At the Mandarin Talk co-organised by One Hope Centre and Glimmer of Hope Ministry on
6 June 2026, an affected family member, Mr D, gave a heartfelt testimony about the challenges, fears, and emotional toll that addiction can have on families. He shared how sad he felt when he saw how the problem gambling of his wife is taking a toll on his daughter who started to grow apart from her mother as she was not able to cope with the stress. He also shared how support from facilitators from Glimmer of Hope Ministry helped him through the difficult times. Understanding and hope from Support Groups can help a stressed family member navigate through the difficult season.
Addiction does not only affects the individual. It impacts spouses, parents, children, siblings, and loved ones who often carry the burden silently.
At One Hope Centre, we believe that affected family members matter too. Through counselling, support groups, education, and community programmes, we can help family members gain the knowledge, coping skills, resilience, and support they need to cope and heal.
